Carol McManus' muffins are by far my favorites. They are loaded with all kinds of goodies, including pineapple, coconut, macadamia nuts, and bananas for the Hawaii nod -and they're low on butter and sugar. You can get the recipe @ the Obamafoodorama Blog. Unfortunately the Obama's didn't visit Carol's Espresso Love Cafe in Edgartown...
... a store the Obama's did step into though was Alley's General Store in West Tisbury, which was very close to their Blue Heron vacation farm.

How amazing would this be to own a shop and have them walk in. I think I would just die with nervousness.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I see Burt's Bees lip balm on that counter!
ReplyDeleteI sold that when I had a store. My local state senator used to shop there ~ is that the same? Oh, I guess not.
But my nephew is on Barack's staff ~ I bet that would have helped!
Well I bet they were chuffed!
ReplyDeleteCan't see any Kevin Rudd Muffins on the horizon here.. hehe 'A Rudd Muffin' x Julie
Living on the Vineyard, I can say firsthand that pretty much ANYthing in Carol's store is incredible. When my daughter worked in Edgartown last summer, it was her favorite place to grab lunch.
ReplyDeleteBTW, my son got to see Obama 3 times last week. I didn't even get one sighting!
That's fun! I love that the Obama muffin has coconut and macadamia nuts in a nod to Hawaii. Too bad he didn't get to try it!
ReplyDeleteYum...that muffin sounds delish! I think she should send some to him.
ReplyDeleteBetteryet.....she should send them to me, and I'll "test" them....then send them along to him.
The muffins look and sound delicious! Too bad Pres. Obama didn't get to try one.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute to our President, a muffin in his honor. Now if she had made a Sweet Potato Muffin he may have dropped in!
ReplyDeleteI did get to shake his hand at one of our rallies here in Forida and on World News that night you could clearly see me just above his head on TV. I took a picture of the television screen, which doesn't come out great, but hey it's me and the president! lol
That muffin looks delicious, that is great that Obama was near!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I hope to see you at Crock Pot Wednesday on diningwithdebbie.blogspot.com. Thanks again for posting.

I remember when the Clintons came to the Vineyard. We have a picture of Bill with his arm around my beautiful stepmother. Looking rather happy...Bill, that is.

Can you imagine the tizzy everyone with a restaurant nearby must have gone into--on the off chance that the family might visit? At least some good recipes came out of it--I love the Hawaiian influence. These sound like bipartisan muffins to me:)
ReplyDeleteWhatever or whoever inspires good food is fine by me. The muffens sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe muffins sound terrific and I love the names given to some of the other foods created for their stay. Barack-O-Taco is my favorite. I love the way the name plays on my tongue. I hope you are having a wonderful day
