Amy's Booby Boost

Booby
On your desk, do you have a favorite picture that you like to look at? Amy for example needs a Booby boost when at work..., "This is my favorite thing I can see from my desk. It is a blue-footed Booby. I ripped it out of my Audubon calendar once its week was past. I didn't even know they were real. Apparently, they always walk like that. The foot thing is actually a courtship move. The courtship of the Blue-footed Booby consists of the male flaunting his blue feet and dancing to impress the female. It works. I fell in love with him."

And if this is the first time you see a blue footed Booby, as it is for me, it's a gull-like seabird that breeds from the Gulf of California south to Peru, and during the summer a few stray to the southern California coast. And the name derived from the Spanish word clown = bobo. It's because of the goofy feet and the walk I guess.

  1. I have always been intrigued by the Blue Footed Boobies. I think they are so cool looking. Years ago I watched a Nat Geo program highlighting them and from then on, I was hooked.

Our office has a very drab green color and not much can perk it up even though I try. Years ago my friend gave me a picture and it really never fit the decor of my home so when I started working at this office I thought it would be perfect as it has different tones of green so I brought it to work and when I look at it, I think of her and the good times we have had together over the past 24 years. It automatically brings a smile to my face. Amazingly, it does help the drab green a little bit!

  6. Very cute! I've never seen one in person, but I'll be on the lookout. You just never know when one (or more) might decide to take a vacation in Coronado!

  7. Love the Boobies! These are new to me!

I keep inspirational quotes on the bulletin board above my desk...the latest:
"Learn some and think some and draw and PAINT and sing and dance and work and play everyday some"
    - Robert Fulghum

These, along with images I cut out or sketch for future paintings keep me inspired.
