For Heather @ Shivaya Naturals knitting at the beach is pure bliss. Have you ever done it? I haven't, nor have I ever seen anybody doing it. But then I found many more photographs of knitters at the beach...
... including this group shot with Martha Villa (in the middle) who turned her knitting passion into a profession in 1962..., and had a few celebrity clients along the way...
... creating the crochet hats for actress Ali MacGraw (Love Story 1970) for example. You can visit Martha at her Etsy store Two Knit, which she opened together with her granddaughter Eve.
And if you love knitting..., there is an interesting book waiting for you @ Completely Coastal.
I´ve never done it at the beach...but in the evening, when I watch tv, I often do it! Beautiful picture from Ali! Nice post! Have a very nice day today! geisslein
ReplyDeleteI do!!! I know it seems odd, but knitting completely relaxes me.
ReplyDeleteSitting and doing anything at the beach is wonderful. I read usually and just the thought of it makes me breath deep. Thanks for the image.
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the knitters is so cute!

I brought two little boys to the beach yesterday. If only I could have relaxed and knitted. What a treat that would have been.
ReplyDeleteWhen I watch TV I have to be doing something and most of the time it is knitting.
Hi Maya,
ReplyDeleteThat's not something I would think of doing at the beach but hey why not!
now thats a piece knitted with love..
ReplyDeletenothing like doing something you love, somewhere you love for someone you love
Strangely enough, that's where I've done most of my knitting this summer.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Maya! You think of everything!

I've never done that at the beach. But if you're not in the mood to read, it's a great alternative.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great article!!! How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the Badger ointment!!! And I bet you'd get right back into the hang of riding the waves in no time! Like riding a bike perhaps?
Hope all is well.

oh, and a good thing (i imagine) about knitting on the beach is that you can people watch without anyone knowing... they think you're concentrating on what you're knitting! Most good knitters can do it without looking at what they're doing!!! Excellent!
I read usually and just the thought of it makes me breath deep. Thanks for the image.

Maya,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. I am so fair that my beach time is early or late in the day. I love the beach in the winter!!!
I still love being near the beach...the smells and the sounds. Just wonderful.
I am pleased that you visited me at Blue Creek Home.
I can't wait to look at all the rooms at Coastal Home!!! Rhonda
Yes. I could understand knitting at the beach in the cooler months. I agree with Kelley, you could peek out at folks from under your sunglasses and no one ever know because the needles would still be flying. Cool post Maya!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of knitting at the beach but it would be more productive!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures.
Carolyn
