They Met in Delray Beach
He had a house in Rhinebeck, NY. She lived in Queens. They met at Palm Greens on the tennis court in Delray Beach, FL. "We are not married, we have been going together for ten years, but not married. I wasn't out to meet anyone, I was just interested in tennis", Florie says.
This just shows that you can meet "your significant other" at any age, anytime, any place, often when you're not even looking, which was true for me also. After having been single for seven years, and looking for Mr. Right everywhere, I made peace with my "singlehood". I was 36 then and felt that instead of trying to find a man, I needed some major self nurturing, so I came to the United States and attended a 3 months silent meditation retreat in Barre, MA. And guess what? After the retreat I spent some time with a friend and she introduced me to my husband to be. And in case you missed when and where we tied the knot click here.

I love wedding pictures. *hint, hint* :)
ReplyDeleteI almost bought a house in Delray. What a great community! It's close enough to Miami and Palm Beach, without being those places. Ultimately, I got divorced and moved to California instead of buying a second home in Florida, though I do have fond memories of my time spent there. Thanks for sharing Florie's story!
ReplyDeleteWhen first I glanced at the woman in the photo, I thought she struck a remarkable resemblance to Rito Moreno. She looks so happy!

ReplyDeleteI've long stopped worrying about being single and quite used to my own company these day, but getting back to your story.. you did a 3 months silent meditation retreat? Love to hear more about that.. We have something similar here.. no talking at all.. but more like a week... even though I am a chatter box.. I think i could manage a week.. not sure about more than that.
Take care xx Julie

ReplyDeleteYes, like many things that occur when we're not expecting them. Enjoyed this. Best to you.
ReplyDeleteLove has no boundaries -- how great to see an older couple in love :-) My mom died in 1998 and my dad said he had no interest in meeting someone else. Till he met my friend's mom about 4 years ago!! They make a wonderful couple, and I'm happy for my dad that he found someone else to love :-)
