Marley and Me or Do Dog Actors Love their Job?

Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson
Have you ever wondered as to whether acting dogs love their job? I grew up watching Lassie and the last movie I saw with a dog in the lead role was Marley and Me with Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson.

Marley and Me at the Beach
According to The Dog Whisperer dogs need a pack leader, meaning someone who gives them something to do. Depending on the breed some dogs are happy with the job of just following you on a daily walk, others especially those known as "working dogs" such as the boxer need more than that..., or they could become frustrated, start chewing up furnture, etc...., just like Marley in the movie!

Marley and Me Dog Actor
So yes, I think dog actors love their job! Marley of course is the work of several dog actors.

  2. I wonder if dog actors have thier own trailers with all their favorite amenities? ;)

One of my favorite dog actors is the dog on Frasier, Eddy. He was so cute. Norm reminds me of Eddy sometimes when he stares me down to take him out for a walk.

  4. I think they do love their 'work,' especially if it means spending time with their people and making them happy. Dogs are so easy that way.

  5. What's not to love? Plenty of attention and they're the stars of the show. And I'd be willing to bet that the food is fantastic!

  6. You'd be hard pressed to find a non-animal lover around the Hollywood set. Actors and Others For Animals helped me in the 70s when a stray cat we had brought in and adopted was hit by a car and had to have a leg amputated. Look at all the work Betty White has done for years. I can't tell you how many abandoned cats my girlfriend Susie (TV/movie hairdresser) has adopted or found homes for in the thirty years I've known her.

If I had my life to live over, I'd want to be a dog actor! lol

Well I imagine those doggies have a fine time...being pampered by all the actors...
