There's Snow -Let's Go Swimming!

Snow Swimmer
Winter Swimming
Winter swimmers in Brighton, England don't let the cold (nor the snow) stop them from taking a dip.

Samantha Brown
And then there is the lovely Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel ...

Samantha Brown Polar Bear Club
... who went for a winter swim last December, joining the Coney Island Polar Bear Club in NY, the oldest winter bathing organization in the United States. Or in other words, a group of people from all walks of life who deeply enjoy the activity of cold water swimming and think that every day is a good beach day!

  6. Fun post Maya... I adore Samantha she is so much fun and what a blessed JOB! But me? I'll pass on cold water for swimming... I'm a warm water kinda swimmer. But I love looking at the winter ocean...

By the way... my post Thursday in my series of posts about the Hotel Del Coronado is about a ghost at the hotel that I defiantly felt the presence of! Pop over if you get a chance... and one of the posts I am dedicating to you I think its going to be on Sunday! I thought of you while I was there and photographing the pix for this certain post.

    Take care there!

  11. Oh yes, I would definitely do this! In fact, going to a beach where it snows is on my bucket list!

About twenty years ago or so, I was in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We went snowmobiling to the hot springs, took off our snowsuits and entered the water. It was fabulous! I have a pic somewhere of me in my bathing suit and snow boots. The temperature was about thirty below and when we got out I knew how a snowman feels.

AND, I love that cute suit!

  14. I know quite a few people who do the Coney Island plunge. I, however, am more sane than that. :-)
