In the Red

coastal real estate RICaptured while stalking homes for House Names in my neighborhood...

seaside home short sale... and a small Waterfront Cottage down the street listed as a short sale for $459,000. Guess what the price was when it first came on the market 1 1/2 years ago..., more than 700 thousand! I wonder what my house is worth at this point. Sigh.

That's quite a loss on that cottage - sad.

  3. So much sadness in this economy. I hope the family can finally make their sale. Just found out this week, we are upsidedown. Oh well, life's a circle. I think I'll take a seat in one of those pretty red chairs and kick back and sit tight.

  5. We purchased our home about a year to soon. If we had waited we could have purchased double the house for almost the same price. But, will we ever recoup what we invested? That is the big question now.

  6. The price has dropped although with that location it will certainly rise again!!

  7. It's long been a dream of mine to own a lakehouse. Unfortunately I sort of put the hex on that when I moved to Israel. Not many lakehouses to be found in this part of the world. I'll have to get my fill of lake (access) living when I visit my folks next month instead.

  9. That house is wonderful! But let's not talk about home values - it's too depressing. ;)

  11. Oh Maya! Beautiful post. Those chairs are absolutely gorgeous. I love the cottage. Can you imagine having to lose it? How sad. Our economy has not been to kind, and so many people who made investments and bought over their budgets are truly suffering. As always I love to stop by and say hi. Thanks for sharing. 15. I love Adirondack chairs and have a passion for red, so like everyone else I love the chairs.

Did you say SMALL waterfront cottage? Looks pretty big to me, I could probably fit my little house in the downstairs! I love the upstairs balcony, I would spend all my time there when I was home.

  21. Very cute house...but so sad that people are in such a tough spot when they try to sell their homes right now. Let's just hope they owned if for a really long time, and will still make a profit!
