... is the vintage swim cap experiencing a revival too?
Helenna @ Driftwood & Chandelier is wearing one! And she writes: "Embarrassing my children is just another service I offer."
I think she looks quite fashionable.
Vintage Swim Caps

I hate bathing caps. I remember having to wear them to the pool. It was a rule that girls had to wear bathing caps or you weren't allowed to swim. This was the mid to late 60's when boys had as long, if not longer hair, than girls and I never understood why they weren't required to wear them too. Just thinking about them, I can remember the way they smelled and how much it hurt to put on and off because it pulled. Some things should never come back into style. I do like the white bathing suit, though. It's very cute.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I had to wear a swim cap to the pool too and didn't like it. They are kind of fun so..., just like hats! But not for me either.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I had to wear a cap like that to the pool. As did my sister. And maybe even my brother. My mother wanted to be able to see us in a crowd. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI will skip the swimcap but the cozzies are gorgeous! x Julie
ReplyDeleteOh my - how you've brought back memories - we even wore them at the beach! Love the vintage swim suits - and your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love my swimming cap and so do my little girls. It was incredibly lucky that I had the matching shade of eye shadow that day :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring my photo Maya!
Oh My Gosh Maya!
ReplyDeleteYou have given me a memory. I had one of those flowered bathing caps. When we took swimming lessons, you had to wear a bathing cap, as at the time there were always worries about hair in the drains, so women were not allowed in without their caps. I remember thinking how beautiful it was. It had a strap that went under my chin and snapped on the other side. Oh Maya thanks for the memory. Please stop by and see my post today you will love it. Country Hugs, Sherry
beautiful... it would be so fun to take some beautiful old fashioned pics with those!
ReplyDeleteI still love these bathing caps and am determined to find the perfect one to match my personality, I mean to match my favorite bathing suit. lol
ReplyDeleteOh how I remember those caps! I had waist length hair and it was so hard to tuck it all underneath! And the rubber always pulled a bunch of hair out when I took it off. You have certainly brought back some memories for me too! I do wish I still felt the kind of freedom that woman in the white swim suit feels to be able to strike a pose like that on the beach! Maybe we just aren't silly enough anymore!

...i love the white suit and the bathing caps are cute too. i love how helenna's cap and makeup match! if the bathing cap is back in style, the quickest way to kill that is for me to wear one! lol, mickey
ReplyDeleteMiss Maya,
ReplyDeleteI look like crap in a bathing cap, LOL! But I love the look. And that white suit, oh my... girly without being in-your-face-sexy. Makes me wish I was a girly girl :-)
If they didn't squeeze so much maybe, but probably not...but they are pretty on other people! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love vintage caps, especially the one with many colors, how fun and what a way to ad even more color on a hot summer day!
ReplyDeleteMy son lives in Taiwan and both men and women are required to wear swim caps in swimming pools. They provide them except he always seems to end up with a HOT PINK one. I am not so sure if this isn't his choice or not. I think he might be just making it even more sillier.
