El Bulli, Jules Competition, and what I Love about Blogging

El Bulli Terrace
One of the things I love about blogging is discovering stuff. Like El Bulli, the world #1 restaurant, reputed to have reservations booked up to a year in advance.

El Bulli Restaurant
Residing in a quiet cove on the Costa Brava in Spain, the restaurant is famous for the 30-course gourmet menu featuring some of chef & owner Ferran Adrià's best creations, which mostly don't look like food at all. And people don't mind to travel the distance nor do they mind the wait. To give you an idea..., El Bulli has 8000 available seats a year and in 2008 there were over 2 million requests.

El Bulli
So it's understandable that Jules from The Stone Soup wants to hold on to her reservation which she secured over 12 months in advance: "Last month, sadly, the Irishman and I parted ways. And so I found myself with a ticket to Spain, a reservation at the best restaurant in the world – and no one to share it with." So what did Jules do? She decided to hold a competition to find herself a blind date for the 15th December 2009 (entries close Sunday 15th November 2009). And that's another thing I love about blogging, you're part of a worldwide network! And anything is possible -even finding a date for a dinner @ El Bulli!

  4. Maya,

An amusing post! I had a chance to meet this chef at an event at the Melbourne Food & Wine festival, but had a conflict. Am I stupid or what?
